Job Summary:

This position directs all aspects relating to the operations of the business. Responsibilities include managing all manufacturing, purchasing, materials, logistics and training related to these teams. Additionally, development of a “Lean” culture is important. Knowledge of the Toyota Production System (TPS) will help to develop this constant improvement culture, and will encourage employee involvement to improve all processes. This position is also responsible for developing performance standards for measuring progress, managing manufacturing costs including analyzing and appraising the effectiveness of all operations, and building a world-class operations team with strong leadership and a passion for developing and delivering world-class products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Develops, implements, and promotes strategies to achieve significant manufacturing targets.
  • Has primary responsibility for achieving operational goals.
  • Manages/supervises the Shop Leads, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing and Production Control on a direct and/or indirect basis.
  • Creates a collaborative team environment that fosters company values and strives for constant improvement.
  • Serves as the Lean Enterprise champion for the company.
  • Functions as a member of the senior management team.
  • Plays a key role in strategic business decisions affecting production and sales.
  • Works closely with other members of his/her team in the identification and development of people, products, services, and/or systems improvements.

Quality

  • Champions the quality and continuous improvement efforts of the company.
  • Ensures that adequate quality controls are in place to provide a quality product to the customer and protect the company’s reputation.

Schedule

  • Ensures adequate people and equipment capacity is in place to support forecasted production requirements.
  • Oversees the master schedule to insure quoted deliveries are correct and achievable.
  • Drives programs to continually reduce production cycle times and maximize equipment and employee utilization.

Financial

  • Monitors production gross margin and drives efforts to improve.
  • Develops budget to aid in the control of costs.
  • Ensures capital expenditures in area support production goals and company direction with a strong ROI.

Safety and Environmental

  • Ensures that adequate safety and environmental programs are in place to protect workers and minimize company liability.

Technology

  • Provides leadership in defining company technology direction and investment.
  • Ensures adequate resources/skills are available to maintain the company’s technology leadership.

Supervision Responsibilities: Shop floor personnel, Production support personnel, Manufacturing Engineering Support, Purchasing personnel, Logistics.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering or equivalent education.
  • A history of successful development of high performance organizations.
  • Experience in dealing with new product launches and integration into operations.
  • A history of cost reduction success and product margin improvement.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean principles, TPS, TQM initiatives, and exposure to ISO requirements.
  • Broad experience with manufacturing processes and controls, including advanced knowledge of integrated (MRP) systems.
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting and other financial measurements used in manufacturing.
  • Superior verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.

Computer Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, and basic knowledge of computer-based manufacturing and engineering applications.

Pay Rate: $85-$125K annually
