Final Quality Assurance Inspector

Founded in 1987, our client produces rubber extrusion, rubber moldings, gaskets, and hydroelectric gate seals for both government and private industries of all types. They can fabricate rubber parts in almost any size, shape, or quantity as needed. Functioning primarily as a 'job shop' most production runs are of limited quantity and the position offers a lot of diversity in the product manufactured from day to day.

SUMMARY:     Evaluates in-house manufactured parts and job-related materials for accuracy according to industry and customer parameters. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inspects completed product for compliance with supplied work instructions drawings and industry standards.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and diagrams, confers with management, sales or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Inspects incoming material that requires inspection according to Seals Quality Manual.
  • Dimensionally inspect raw material, finished parts and tooling to drawings, purchase order and applicable documentation using calipers, gauges, and another required tooling.
  • Coordinate compliance with all applicable standards such as ISO 9000, and other applicable customer requirements.
  •  Review product and process non-conformance and recommend remedial actions including but not limited to modifications of processes, products or QA standards where warranted.
  • Record results of inspections by part number and department in an inspection log and maintain an inspection data sheet for each lot of material and tooling inspected.
  • Requests changes to QA plans, tolerances, and other required process control procedures to ensure processes, work in progress and finished goods meet the specified quality standards.
  • Utilize standard mechanical instruments, functional gauges, and test rigs.
  • Maintains appropriate files and documentation of ‘customer norms’ on parts to assist in the future quality inspection.
  • Process associated documentation including process tags, rework tags and nonconforming material documents.
  • Assists in in-process QA Inspection as required.
  • Prepares labels for production and shipping as required by customer specifications.
  • Performs related duties as needed by supervision.

High School diploma; or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and drawings.  Willingness to ask questions and communicate openly with superiors and peers.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and read and interpret a metal rule, calipers and gauges.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Ability to shift between tasks while maintaining a positive attitude toward customers and staff.  Ability to give input on issues in a team atmosphere and support team and management decisions when they are not of your opinion.

Shift: Days 8:30am to 5:00pm

Pay Rate: $18 to $22/hr Depending on skills and experience.
