PrideStaff Financial has partnered with our Roseville, Ca client to hire a Controller for their growing residential construction business.   This northern Ca. builder is projecting $20M-$25M in 2018 sales.  This growth has created a need for an experienced Controller in the residential construction business.   Controller Job Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage the accounting and finance functions, ensure cross functional operational processes are working efficiently with appropriate internal controls. Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

Controller Job Duties:
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors (as needed).
  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; audits and makes recommendations on investments
  • Prepares special reports as needed by the company
  • Maintains company financials in accordance to accepted GAAP practices for the construction industry.
  • Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, and training employees.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; as needed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies (as needed)
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Prepare data for CPA to file corporate tax returns
  • Bi-monthly cash flow updates; quarterly financial projections and goals by region; implement track and monitor them.
  • Establish, implement and maintain a monthly closeout process.  The goal is to have a month closed within 10 days of month-end.
Controller Skills and Qualifications:

Managing Processes, Financial Software, Developing Standards, Audit, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tracking Budget Expenses, Financial Skills, Analyzing Information, Developing Budgets, Performance Management, Budget Management. CPA preferred.

Controller Software Requirements:

MS Word, Excel, MS Project, QuickBooks, PROLOG
